These forest demons of Papua New Guinea Kyakas look like miniscule,
wizened versions of the tribes people of the country's highlands.
One possible reason for this is that they may actually be babies who
have aged without reaching adult stature, as the kilyakai have a
habit of stealing mortal babies and bestowing demonic natures upon
them in order to reinforce their numbers. Examples of their mischief
also include the theft of pigs and the shooting of tiny arrows at
people walking through the forests, giving them terrible diseases
such as malaria.
